Kimon Boyiatjis

Kimon Boyiatjis is the founding member and managing director of Trident Capital. As managing director of the business, his primary function is to establish and nurture a small team of investment specialists who share his passion.

Boyiatjis commenced his career more than 20 years ago, garnering valuable experience along the way. He has worked as a bond and equity derivatives trader for numerous investment houses within the local industry, as well as internationally at Integro Holdings in London (Investec). On his return to South Africa, he was instrumental in the set up and running of the equity and derivative division of District Securities Bank. In 1996, he joined NIB/Syfrets, where he was head of fixed income, dealing and alternative investments (including unit trusts, institutional funds and the first hedge fund). After a period of 5 years, Kimon moved over to ABSA Asset Management Group, Abvest, to head up the fixed income, alternative investments and trading teams, and was appointed a director. In 2006, Boyiatjis realised his ambition of opening a specialist asset management company.

Dimitri Boyiatjis

Dimitri Boyiatjis is an equity specialist and the newest member of Trident Capital, joining his brother Kimon as a Director.

Dimitri entered the financial markets after completing his BCom degree in South Africa. He has successfully managed numerous trading divisions, from London & Dominion Trust to Syfrets and Nedcor Investment Bank. His international experience comprises Head of Sales for Standard Bank London, and as a Global Institutional Equity Trader for Royal Bank of Canada. On his return to South Africa, he took up the position of Head of Trading and Executive Director at Legae Securities.

Dimitri’s extensive experience, successful track record in asset management and notable reputation will be a significant addition to the team at Trident Capital.


Sidney Mckinnon

After completing his BSc degree at University of Cape Town, Mckinnon’s introduction into the financial markets was whilst working in the IT department of Southern Life. His progression to their asset management arm as a Fixed Interest Analyst was noted, and when the opportunity arose he joined Boyiatjis’ team at Syfrets as a Quantitative Fixed Interest Analyst, with responsibilities including fundamental analysis, credit analysis, inflation linked securities and securitized assets.

In 2001, together with Boyiatjis, he joined Abvest Associates as a fixed interest analyst and portfolio manager. Mckinnon was instrumental in the design, testing, launch and management of the ABSA Inflation Beater Unit Trust Fund.

At Trident, Mckinnon’s responsibilities include management and analysis of fixed income and real return portfolios.
